Don't count your chickens before they're hatched.

I'm playing Devil's advocate a lot lately. I guess somebody has to.

It seems that Iggy plans to implement a cap & trade? Have they not learned that a green shift is what killed Stephane Dion?

Canadians as a rule, only care about the environment when it doesn't involve sacrifice or cost or extra work. Rob Ford, the least green mayor anyone can dig up, won by a landslide, in supposed Liberal Toronto, is proof enough of this. That and the fact that the Green Party never had seats.

If there is an 'aggressive' cap and trade program indicated in teh Liberals' red book, they have handed Harper his majority and a landslide at that.

Cap and trade is a reasonable alternative to the carbon tax. The problem with both is they require some cooperation with the U.S. to avoid creating an American advantage over Cdn industry. Carbon tax is still the best policy as it would treat all equally instead of some using cap and trade to opt out of cleaner options. Still it's better policy than the one we have right now under Harper which is nothing. NDP and Tories are also on record favouring some kind of cap and trade policy - the Tories have been waiting to do anything until Americans move. Which is why we're stuck on this issue. I don't see Iggy's promise on c & t being much of an issue.
