Is Falwell burning in hell as we speak?

American hate monger and religious extremist Jerry Falwell passed away today. Falwell made an industry out of demonizing his fellow men and women. Homosexuals, like myself, were frequently the victims of his irrational hatred.

For a sample of some of Falwell's insane vitriol over the years, check out the list on The Sleveen Institute.

When a high-profile religious extremist croaks, I get reflective about God and the universe.

Falwell was typical of most religious leaders - he sought power and control rather than world peace and human redemption. His "god" was vengeful and despicable, seemed to enjoy violence and increasing human suffering in the world. In a nutshell, Falwell's "god" more resembled the Devil.

Given Falwell's nutty worldview, his low opinion of his fellow men, and his lifelong efforts to destroy the lives of so many, it's not unfair to say that the real God is probably not too pleased with Falwell's life achievements.

If the real God were as vindictive as Falwell made Him/Her out to be, there's little doubt that God would punish Falwell with eternal damnation.

However, like many, I doubt that God hands out such punishments to sinners upon death, as long as those souls see the error of their ways and seek forgiveness.

With the illumination of universal knowledge (which I hope and believe takes place after all souls pass on), I'm sure Falwell has now seen the immense error of his Earthly ways and has indeed repented for the suffering he promoted so despicably in life.

Wherever you are, Jerry, we forgive you.

I think your post is really good,I didn't agree with Falwells views but some blog post and coments I have seen in the last few days were almost as bad or worse than the things he said.
